Resistance is part of growth; can you set yourself free from it? My view on this is the follows: instead of setting yourself free from it, you would want to embrace it. Why? Let’s take a closer look.
The cause of resistance
When we look at resistance closely, we will find that it originates from an emotional state of UNCERTAINTY. This uncertainty generates doubts, worries and fears. As humans, whatever is not familiar to us creates a sense of uncertainty. In my previous post, make the unfamiliar familiar, you would understand we are creatures of habits. We love habits. Habits give us a sense of security; they give us the feeling of safety.Growth comes from going into a new territory
To grow, you will need to do something that you are not familiar with. We live in a world that change is a constant. And yet, most of us choose to stay static in order to not feel that “growing pain”. That explains why so many of us live with REGRETS in our lives. So, we must first DECIDE what we want in life. Are you willing to settle for the current status and never have more than what you have ? or take on a new set of risks and permit yourself to try something new…try to explore the world that is filled with abundance? That said, to reduce the level of resistance, Here are a few tips that can help you :1)Change your association with resistance
When you feel that growing pain, you should first congratulate yourself. The DISCOMFORT is telling you that you are stretching out of your comfort zone. It is like the flashlight on your car’s dashboard giving you a heads-up on entering into A NEW TERROTORY. Instead of avoiding it by going back to your comfort zone, you acknowledge it and mentally prepare yourself to push ahead regardless. Most successful people say that if they do not feel the discomfort when setting goals, it is a sign that their goals are not big enough. They not only change the association with the feeling of discomfort, but they also use it to GUIDE them on whether they are on the right track or not.
2) Face your fears by taking action
Instead of letting fears paralyze you, you look at your fears right in your face and TAKE ACTION. Inaction can multiply your fears. Fears are an emotional state activated by the thoughts you have in your mind. This thought pattern is a HABITUAL mental pattern that you’d learned at one point in your life and you start applying it. When you take action, you are breaking that mental route of reacting to a situation. If you do it enough times, you create a NEW thinking pattern; once that pattern is created, it becomes a habit. The sense of fear will diminish. Again, fears come from uncertainty and uncertainty is triggered by doing something unfamiliar.3)Get guidance by using visualization
In the post of the subconscious mind, you’ve learned that our subconscious mind cannot tell what is real from what is not real. Anything that goes into the subconscious mind becomes fixed and expressed through the 95% unconscious behavior. Therefore, to accelerate your growth is by playing a “trick” with your subconscious mind. You want to install the change in it by skipping all ‘the steps” and go straight to it. One suggestion is to use visualization right before going to bed. You visualize yourself doing that new things time and again daily for a certain period. When you go to bed, your subconscious mind goes straight to work for you while sleeping. Most athletes use the simulation for this purpose.Practice makes perfect
I hope that now you feel more comfortable with dealing with your resistance to grow. What is missing now? It is the practice…Hit the ground and get going.Explore the world to your fullest.
